Many game developers are aware of KickStarter and IndieGoGo, now a new crowdfunding site has entered the mix. Launched by Donald Trump and Bill Zanker, the new site could offer new venue for game developers to help get gaming projects funded.

Individuals or groups can create campaign pages that highlight their personal stories or needs. Campaigns can offer incentives to contributors such as products, gifts and services. CHICAGO – The Chicago Experimental Game Development Meetup (CEGD) will host presentations from local developers and CEGD members Patrick O’Shaughnessey, Patched Reality, Inc. and Shawn Recinto, Immersive Realms at Cibola on Friday March 15, 2013. The event is part of the CEGD’s ongoing efforts to provide a forum to help game developers exchange ideas, strategies and knowledge with other game developers and organizations in the Chicagoland area.

Headed by Patrick O’Shaughnessey, Patched Reality is a leader in the field of augmented reality (AR) software. O’Shaughnessey has been featured as panel member of the Chicago AMA’s BrandSmart 2012 Emerging Media Panel Discussion and Illumedia’s 2013 event “Augmented Reality: Seeing the World Beyond”. On June 3rd of this year, he will be presenting an AR SDK Roundup at the Augmented Reality Expo in Santa Clara. Shawn and the other brains behind CreativeProximity are leading an effort to shatter the notions of traditional game play by fusing real and virtual worlds using Near Field Communication (NFC) and compelling story development. In addition to being an entrepreneur and devoted gamer, Recinto has been a driving force in expanding the Chicago development community by organizing the Chicago Game Developer Gathering. Recinto will be joined by Kent Mages, CEO of Pixeldom who will discuss NFC technology and developer Stu Buchbinder who will discuss work with Eight Bit Studios on the Box-O-Zombies game. The first 50 attendees will receive a free set of Series 1 Set 1 Box O Zombies.
Presentations from both developers will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 5:45 pm at Cibola, 1647 Blue Island, Chicago, Illinois. The event is free for CEGD members. Membership in the CEGD is free for Chicagoland game designers, game artists, programmers or writers that are actively engaged in pushing boundaries of play and creating games.
