N Square Game Jam


Looking for a way to test your game development skills? The N Square Game Jam invites regional game students and professionals to make games for social impact specifically addressing nuclear weapons disarmament.  The Game Jam will begin Saturday November 14 @ 10:00am and run though Sunday November 15 @ 6.00pm.

Participants will divide into teams spend up to 48 hours in creative brainstorming and rapid prototyping sessions. To encourage participation from the widest audience, each event will include games of all formats, such as: live role-playing games, tabletop and board games, and, of course, digital games.

Teams will collaborate on conceptualizing, designing, and prototyping their game experience in the span of the 2-day event concluding in pitch presentations by participating teams. Design teams would have the opportunity to present their games to representatives from N Square and G4C, who will select one or more winning teams to be recognized with a modest prize.

Reverence Kickstarter Launch

Gamers can join Chicago developer Mantis Studios at a Kickstarter launch event for their upcoming title, Reverence.   As the ultimate combat experience, Reverence is “a comprehensive combat simulation where the player has full control over their movements.”reverence kickstarter

Project Fly Alpha Event

projectfly_splashChicago based QuakeStudios will be unveiling the Alpha Build of Project Fly: First Strike.  Set in the streets of an alternate Chicago, the game will serve a bridge to the innovative film project. Project Fly First Strike will utilize the Unity 3D game engine and will be available on Windows and Mac OS platforms initially. The Alpha Event is open to members of the CEGD and SGC. We will have updates from the event later today.

Boot Hill Heroes Heads to Steam

Experimental Gamer’s “Boot Hill Heroes” is heading to Steam on October 10. “Boot Hill Heroes” blends all of the classic elements of traditional spaghetti westerns with classic fantasy storytelling and a dash of good versus evil and order versus chaos! Built in XNA with C#, the successfully Kickstarted RPG offers new and unique experiences to gamers.

With an intriguing story and excellent music by Jake ‘ virt’ Kaufman (“Shovel Knight”), it’s an adventure well worth experiencing. The title will arrive at a 50% discount to celebrate the launch of the game of Steam that will last for one week only!

Codemancer Successfully Funded


The Chicago Codemancer team reached full funding on May 27. Codemancer is an exciting educational game designed for 9 to 14-year-olds (but fun for grownups, too) that teaches the magic behind programming. Players will code their way through a fantasy world full of rival sorcerers and their minions. The game will be available for PC, Mac, iPad and Android Tablets. Gamers can still help support the project by joining the pre-order program.
